IF YOU LIKE GREAT BASEBALL

If you are a fan of baseball the last 2 Varsity games have been fun to watch.  The quad battled hard against Decatur last Thursday behind Robert Jones on the mound only to come up a hit short in the 2-1 loss.  Decatur took the early lead with a solid 2 out hit to score a run and the Rams came right back when Jeremy Hoefer got a solid 2 out hit to right field to score Sumner Shorey.  Unfortunely for the Rams, Decatur came back with a 2 out blooper single to right field to take the lead 2-1 in the bottom of the sixth and hung on for the win.

The Rams answered on Monday with a great win over division leader Todd Beamer 8 to 6.  Jeremy Hoefer got the win on the mound and Bryce Pulver collected the save going the last 2 innings.  But it was a game of back and forth on the scoreboard.  Mt. Rainier jumped out to an early 2-0 lead in the 1st inning, Beamer bounced right back to tie the score 2-2 in the bottom of the inning.  Rams collected another run in the 2nd inning going ahead 3-2, Beamer answered that run in the 3rd inning tying the game at 3-3 after 3 innings.  MR added two more runs in the 5th inning go ahead 5-3, but Beamer once again tied the score at 5-5.  The Rams took the lead for good in the top of the 7th adding 3 runs which included a nice manufactured run with a old fashion squeeze play.  Beamer's attempt to tie the game again fell short in the bottom of the final inning.  Final score was 8-6 Rams!
